3. Rear Commodore's Report

Bilge Pump Issue:
November 2008

This has been a busy month. Nancy and I attended the junior officer’s (Rear and Vice Commodore) balls at Rainier and Tacoma. These are theme events and we dress up and have a party on Saturday evenings, then have a formal meeting on Sunday morning. Our group of Rear Commodores is called the Sassy Salmon. We are off to Bremerton on the 11th and Everett on the 25th for their J.O. Balls with their new Rear Commodores. We have a very diverse group of junior officers and some of the same concerns about how their clubs function have been discussed. I will let you know if any great ideas for our club pop up.

Grounds – We had a great turnout for the club cleanup on Sept. 27 and 64 captains and 1st mates clipped, cut, snipped, pulled, raked and swept our grounds. Linda Roehl had tools, flowers and a plan for our 3 hours, then Willie had a great lunch and we went home. In February we would like you all to come back. I know that where I was weeding there wasn’t much left so this next cleanup will be easier. Well done and thank you to all who participated.

Security – We have changed the lockdown time of the club to 12 PM to 5 AM unless there is a prior arrangement for an event. You all have your member cards and can access the clubhouse with that at any other time.

Membership – On the 8th of October we inducted three new members: Janet Stannard and spouse Bill, Dave Wheelon and spouse Debbi and Bill Weber. Guests with intent of membership were John Knickerbocker, Tom and Jessica Freeman. Chris Benson has taken the reins of membership and is charging ahead with the Boat Show planning and will be asking for help with manning the booth in four hour increments, please contact him about this. Don’t forget to ask your boating friends to join our club.
