Membership
At the time of this writing, 3 new members have been initiated into Queen City Yacht Club at the October 8th meeting. They are Captain Janet Stannard, sponsored by Captain Richard McGrew; Captain Dave Wheelon, sponsored by P/C Bob Yates; and Captain Bill Weber, sponsored by Captain Rick English. Congratulations and a warm QCYC welcome to all of our new members. Please plan on attending a future event or Friday Lunch soon and meet some the members of your new yacht club. Let's all keep a lookout for these folks and show them around. Many thanks to the sponsors!
QCYC Board of Trustees approved another Membership Sponsor Lottery for this year. All current members who are primary sponsors for a new applicant will be entered into a drawing for a CASH prize of $1,000.00! This is an exciting incentive, and a great reason to bring a friend into the Club.
We have memberships open. The current total is now 382 active members, 18 shy of our goal of 400. Keep the "heat” on new prospects you may be talking to, and, we will do our best to get them into the membership. Remember the number one reason people do not join organizations? That's right, no one asked them to!
We will be participating at this year’s Seattle Boat Show from January 23rd to February 1st. We will need about 40 volunteers to man the booth during the show. To encourage your participation, FREE boat show tickets will be provided to any member who signs up for a shift. We will also have an open house on February 21st after the show to invite the interested potential members to view our club.
If you have creative ideas, some of the elements we need to cover are: producing a PowerPoint presentation with photos and movies of Club activities, booth design and construction, and booth banner and/or signage. We also like the idea of selling some sort of unique item, reasonably priced, in the booth. Proceeds could go to the Junior Boating Camp, sponsorship of a disadvantaged child's camp fee, and creation of a QCYC Junior Yacht Club, or all three. Let's have some feedback on this one.
