CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Grimm called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore Yates led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore McGillin recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.
GUEST: Tyee Yacht Club Rear Commodore Irma Doire promoted her club’s Saturday night steak dinner, which begins at 6 PM. The $20 event includes a free drink ticket if purchased in advance, a DJ for dancing, and shuttle service to the club.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read an announcement regarding a Marine Electrical Wiring Workshop, scheduled for June 6 and 7.
APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: None.
COMMODORE: Commodore Grimm reported on a successful long-range planning session, attended by about 80 people. The Board and Bridge are exploring many of the ideas discussed. In line with one of those desires – to make the Club more family-inclusive - the Commodore stated that the last meeting in June will be a combination dinner/guest speaker event, not a “traditional” meeting.
The Commodore reminded members that the cost of drinks goes up by $1 on Opening Day weekend, and noted that the newly-formed “Husky Navy” is looking for purple and gold decorated boats to participate in the Opening Day parade.
He reported that application for a milfoil eradication permit had been submitted, and was expected to be issued within 15 days, and that ice machines will soon be installed on all 3 docks at the main station. Finally, he noted that the April 26 meeting will include nominations for 2006-2007 Officers and Trustees, and that Bridge Officers will be in their dress summer uniforms for that meeting.
VICE COMMODORE: Vice Commodore Yates reported that the new hydraulic lift was operational, and described the procedures by which members can use it. Among repairs and upgrades to the main station docks, some of the roofs will be stripped, to begin after Opening Day. Last, the Junior Officer’s Ball – the “Psychedelic ‘60’s,” is scheduled for April 29, and reservations are required.
REAR COMMODORE: Rear Commodore McGillin reminded members of the Pride of Queen City work day scheduled for Saturday, April 22, to include lunch and dinner. He also reminded members to tend their dock lines as the lake level rises.
TREASURER: Treasurer Steve Farber reported that, much to everyone’s surprise, the Commodore is still under budget by ½ percent YTD. He thanked Assistant Treasurer Michelle Bressler and Captain John Rogers for their help with the April 1 bills.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES: Chairman Gary Stone summarized the Board’s initial responses to six topic areas discussed at the planning session – family orientation of the Club, debt retirement, moorage, facilities management, food service, and boating education.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain Paul Grimm discussed the April 20-22 Daffodil Cruise at the Tacoma Yacht Club, the June 17 Lake Washington Poker Run, the June 23-24 Big Brother Cruise with Bremerton Yacht Club, which they will be hosting at our Bainbridge Outstation, and the August 11-20 Mid-Sound cruise.
REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal presented individual and team trophies from the Eagle Harbor race, and noted the May 12 Poulsbo event.
HOUSE: Captain Jim Damery reported that new light fixtures are installed in Cummins Hall, there is a new automatic reel for the air hose, and there is a new light fixture over the parking lot.
OPENING DAY: P/C Dave Krows described events planned for Opening Day weekend, and said there would be a dinner on April 23 for those who will be helping with the event. He asked those who would have slips available to let Captains Damery and Geving know in advance, and noted that a full book of tickets would be $38.
MEMBERSHIP: Chairman Ed Jennerich reported that 20 new members have been initiated YTD, two-thirds to the goal of 30.
OUTSTATION: Chairman Eric Wood reported on a very successful work party, during which 43 people participated.
JUNIOR BOATING: P/C Jeff Ewell described the summer sailing instruction program, which starts June 26. Cost for participation is $250 for one week, and $475 for two weeks. There are 11 boats in the program, and more would be nice.
OTHER: The Commodore noted that the May 8 meeting night would be the 90th Anniversary of the Club’s founding, and will include a special (loud!) outside event. Also, the first meeting in June is Old Timer’s Night.

RECEPTION: R/C McGillin again recognized Captain Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance; Captain Chuck Gould was the junior member in attendance. 46 members were present along with several spouses and guests. Three Past Commodores were present and recognized.
QUARTER POT: Captain Skip Sethmann pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains John Rogers and P/C Lynn Montgomery won Friday lunches, and Captain Kyle Bixby won the quarter pot.
