Minutes from the April 13, 2011 Regular Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Commodore Austin at 1938 hrs.

Senior Member Recognition: Gordy Foote # 062 was the senior member in attendance.

Special Guest: By popular acclaim, it was determined that we were all special but that no one present was REALLY special.

Commodore's Report: With limited recall, Commodore Austin spoke to the complete success of the Bourbon Appreciation Night.
The new docks at the Winslow outstation are now complete.
The davit in the horseshoe of the main station is being repaired by Jerry Zuvich and should be complete by the time of this reading.
Renewal of Boat Registration. The Commodore reminds us that it is that time of year again. Mooring rules require that all vessels have current registration.
We have set aside $15,000.00 as our portion of the anticipated S.H. 520 lawsuit.
Milfoil killer has been added to our portion of Portage Bay. The Commodore stressed that the product is very concentrated and only requires a very small amount. One could assume that this would be the "Vermouth" of Herbacide.
Saturday, April 30th. at 0845 is the beginning of "Pride of Queen City" under the direction of perennial chair Jerry Zuvich. Early arrival insures that you will get the fresh donut followed by lunch and dinner.

Vice Commodores Report: Vice Commodore Wilson spoke about the upcoming vote for spousal member ship as well as social member ship. The ongoing problem of storage boats was also addressed.

Rear Commodore Report: Rear Commodore Stettner reports that we have 360 active members and 114 life members for a total of 474.
Please use caution of allowing unsupervised subcontractors on the docks for boat washing/waxing.

Treasurers Report: Treasurer Rogers reports that our FY budget is $623,000 including an operating expense of $280,000. Of that, we have used $256,000. Property taxes have declined from $100,000 to $96,000.
The club has committed to $10,000 for the Salt Spring Maina as an outstation replacing the Ganges Marina.
Member late fees at 30 days have been approved by the Board of Trustees.

8 Bell: Chaplin Ken Klett announced the passing of Bob Marcelynas, a friend and member since 2002. Chaplin Klett led the membership in the traditional 8 Bell ceremony.
New Business from the floor: Former member George Sainsberry passed.

Fleet Captain: No Report

Membership: Chair Chris Benson suggests that members bring prospective members to the Opening Day festivities.
New Member Installation: John Kenaghy #485 and Valerie Ohnstron #486 were installed as new members. Welcome aboard

Docks: Chair Art Mauldin invites all to involve themselves in future docks committee projects.

Club Manager: Andy Gerde plugged the Pride of Queen City and advised that he needs more bartenders for Opening Day. Andy also donated some sailboat hardware for anyone in need of same.
Andy reminds us that July 15th. is the Big Brother Cruise to Winslow.

RBOW: Chair Chuck Gould advises the Washington Recreational Resource Account will be able to access the unclaimed portion of the gas tax refund for boats.
The legislature passed a bill banning the application of copper bottom paint beginning in 2020. It is unclear if an alternative paint has been developed.

New Business: For volunteering to fill in as Secretary and then forgetting to show up for the meeting, (eye roll please) Captain Bill Fields was awarded the "screw up flag"

Quarter Pot: Dan Wilshin, won the pot, Ken Klett and Chuck Gould won lunches

Good & Welfare: Larry Dubia appears to be recovering nicely.
