CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Grimm called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore Yates led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore McGillan recognized P/C Wes Mauldin as the senior member in attendance.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a thank-you letter from the Boyer Children’s Home, thanking the Club for its recent $555 donation.
APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: An application for membership was read from Captain Kevin Pantzar, who was present and recognized.
INITIATION: Membership Chairman Ed Jennerich presided over the initiation of Captains Brett Goodwin and Robert Beckman.
COMMODORE: Commodore Grimm reported that interviews were underway for a new office staff person, and that the lift-boom project on the loading dock would start soon. He reminded members that reservations are required for the February 10 Sweetheart’s Dinner.
VICE COMMODORE: Vice Commodore Yates reported that Waterfront Construction had finished work replacing caps on Dock 1, and he recognized Captains Tom Youngs, Dave Svendsen, and Tom Wallick for their work replacing downspouts. He stated that Saturday/Sunday lunches will be discontinued, as it is not economically viable for Willie, and reminded members that the older red magnetic cards are still used to enter the showers at the Bainbridge Outstation.
REAR COMMODORE: Rear Commodore McGillan reported that the security system at the main clubhouse was soon to be completed, and asked attendees to sign the get-well card for Captain Laurie Weigh.
TREASURER: Treasurer Steve Farber reported that bills, Annuals, and ’06 membership cards had all been mailed out.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES: Chairman Gary Stone asked members to forward any ideas they have related to long-term planning issues to him or any member of the Board for consideration.
FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain Paul Grimm discussed the February 5 Super Bowl Party and the February 18-20 Bremerton Heavy Weather Cruise, and stated that a mid-Sound cruise is being considered.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
NEW YEAR’S: Captain Butch Shearer reported that there were 129 attendees – a full house. He thanked by name all the people who helped put on the event, and stated that $1200 had been raised for the Club.
REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal described the upcoming 1st of the Season Race, which has been shortened to allow participants to watch the Seahawks game. He also stated that Tuesday night Predicted Log Racing classes will begin January 17 at 7 PM.
MEMBERSHIP: Captain Ed Jennerich discussed the brokers’ incentive program and reminded members of the “lotto.” He reported that there were currently 373 active members, and 12 new members have been initiated this year.
P/C CRUISE: P/C Rich McCroskey reported that about 30 boats and 126 P/Cs, including 14 QCYC P/Cs, were at the Bainbridge Outstation for the Saturday night event, which netted about $1300 for the Club.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: Captains Jess Hill and Al Reiche spoke on two topics – support for the galley on weekends, and the need for a caretaker at the Main Station. After lengthy discussion, the Commodore asked that written proposals, including financial considerations, be submitted to the Bridge and Board.
RECEPTION: R/C McGillan again recognized P/C Wes Mauldin as the senior member in attendance and Captain Tom Roth as the junior member in attendance. 55 members were present along with a number of spouses and guests. Seven Past Commodores were present and recognized.
QUARTER POT: P/C Larry Chmela pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captain Todd Wallick and P/C Al Smith won Friday lunches, and Captain Robert Murphy won the quarter pot.
