CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Grimm called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1930 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore Yates led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore McGillan recognized Captain David Nelson as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

GUEST SPEAKER: Dick Brundsen from Marine Sanitation spoke on what’s new in the world of vessel sanitation systems, and offered suggestions for existing systems.

CORRESPONDENCE: The Secretary read a notification from the Des Moines Yacht Club regarding their March 25 Swap Meet, and a letter of resignation from Captain Trent Mummery.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: An application for membership was read from Captain Donald Johnson, who was present and recognized.

COMMODORE: Commodore Grimm reminded members that reservations are required for the February 10 Sweetheart’s Dinner. He reported on work being done in conjunction with the Seattle Yacht Club relative to milfoil eradication.

The Commodore announced that earlier in the evening the Secretary offered to publicly kiss any two cheeks on the Commodore’s body if the Commodore ended the meeting by 8:30.

VICE COMMODORE: Vice Commodore Yates reported that the Docks Committee visited Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club to see how their fire vents were installed. He also noted that 150 people attended the recent “All Bob” Friday Night Social, and thanked by name the workers who made that event successful.

REAR COMMODORE: Rear Commodore McGillan, anxious to see just how close the Commodore and Secretary really are, gave no report.

TREASURER: Treasurer Steve Farber, ever the curious spectator, also gave no report.

FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain Paul Grimm, while Chris and Nick Castro unfurled a giant Seahawks banner, discussed the upcoming February 5 Super Bowl Party and the February 17-20 Bremerton Heavy Weather Cruise. He also announced that there will be a St. Patrick’s Day cruise to Andrews Bay.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal displayed the Team Trophy won by the Club at the 1st of the Season Race, and announced Club winners. The next event is the Bremerton Heavy Weather Race, followed by Meydenbauer on March 4, the Novice & Old Timer’s Race on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and the April 1st Eagle Harbor Race. Relative to the Eagle Harbor Race, he announced that the Commodore agreed that those who participate in both the Race and the Outstation Work Party the following weekend will be allowed to leave their boats at the Outstation for the week.

MEMBERSHIP: Captain Ed Jennerich said “I don’t want to be ‘cheeky,’ but I have no report.”

HOUSE: Captain Jim Damery asked members to be diligent in recycling our trash, as we are allowed only 10% recyclable goods in the trash, or the Club will face fines. Also, he stated that cleaning supplies have been moved into the furnace room.

VISITATION: Commodore Grimm reported that Captain Eldon Johnson is quite ill with cancer.

OTHER:

Captain Jess Hill discussed the 1st Annual Steak, Scotch, and Cigar Night on Februay 25. Cost is $15 for the steak dinner, and $20 for the scotch and cigar event; prepayment by February 23 is required to participate.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS: None.

RECEPTION: R/C McGillan again recognized Captain David Nelson as the senior member in attendance (although elder statesman and Board Chairman Gary Stone had entered the room). Captain Todd Wallick was the junior member in attendance. 45 members were present along with several guests. Four Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: Treasurer Steve Farber pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Treasurer Steve Farber and Past Treasurer Lewis Titland won Friday lunches (causes one to think about the Club’s money, doesn’t it?), and Captain Ken Klett won the quarter pot.

The meeting was adjourned at 2027 hours. The Commodore removed an article of clothing, and the Secretary tenderly planted a kiss on each of the Commodore’s cheeks.
