CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Grimm called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore Yates led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore McGillin recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

PROGRAM: Representatives from Seattle Yacht Club promoted 2006 Opening Day events, the theme of which will be “Caribbean Carnival.” They showed a DVD of the 2005 festival, and near the conclusion of their presentation were attacked by QCYC pirates who, following a sham “trial,” declared them guilty of numerous sins.

CORRESPONDENCE: None.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: Applications were read from Captains Gregg Scott, Scott Cameron, and Scott McPhee; all were present and recognized.

COMMODORE: Commodore Grimm reported that ice machines for the docks were on their way, and noted that the garbage dumpsters had been moved.

VICE COMMODORE: Vice Commodore Yates stated that the Bridge will soon “be going after” those mooring members without current state registration stickers, worn out burgees, and poorly-maintained vessels.

REAR COMMODORE: Rear Commodore McGillin reported that all the concrete posts for the post & chain project were in the ground, with chain and paint upcoming. He reminded members of the Queen City Pride work day scheduled for Saturday, April 22, and of the Saturday, April 29 Junior Officer’s Ball, for which the theme will be “The Psychedelic 60’s.”

TREASURER: Treasurer Steve Farber promised that he’d get things figured out by the next meeting. Irrespective, bills will go out April 1.

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT: Chaplain Ken Klett stated that 8-Bell ceremonies for Captains John Clark and Eldon Johnson will be held at the next meeting, and noted that a funeral service for Captain Tom Odland will be held the coming Saturday on Bainbridge Island.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES: Chairman Gary Stone reminded attendees of the March 26 long-term planning session open to all members.

NEW MEMBER INITIATION: Membership Chairman Ed Jennerich presided over the initiation of Captain Chuck Gould.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

FLEET CAPTAIN: Fleet Captain Paul Grimm reported on the successful St. Patrick’s Day cruise, attended by 16 boats and a helicopter. Next up is the April 20-22 Daffodil Cruise at the Tacoma Yacht Club.

REGATTA POWER: Captain Bob Lindal reported results of the Novice & Old Timer’s Race; Captain John Rogers took Novice honors, and P/C Dean Lentgis took Old-Timer’s honors. He noted the April 1st QCYC/SYC Eagle Harbor Race, for which Captain Dave Padgett solicited observers.

PRIDE OF QUEEN CITY DAY: Captain Jerry Zuvich reminded attendees of the April 22 work party to spiff up the grounds, and noted that over 100 participated last year. He suggested that those who can’t come down contribute $20 for the meals.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS: The Commodore reminded members of the March 26 1PM planning session, to be followed by an early meal.

RECEPTION: R/C McGillin again recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance; Captain Larry Dubya was the junior member in attendance. 42 members were present along with several spouses and guests. Three Past Commodores were present and recognized.

QUARTER POT: JoEllen Gilmore pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains Bill Field and Paul Frodeson won Friday lunches, and Captain Dave Padgett won the quarter pot.
