CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Krows called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1930 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice-Commodore Anhalt led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear Commodore McCroskey announced and recognized Captain Wes Mauldin, #11, as the senior member in attendance.
READING OF THE MINUTES: The reading of the minutes was suspended because an auto accident rendered Secretary Grimm’s computer unusable.
INITIATION: Chairman Eric Wood led the initiation ceremony of Captains Bob Knowles and Ragnar Schousboe. Commodore Krows administered the membership pledge to the captains.
COMMODORE: Commodore David Krows reported on the new nominating committee, naming Past Commodores Carl Weiss, Russ Oberg and Dick Spence to head up the search.
The Commodore reminded members that the outstation is to be used by members only. He asked members to have guests tie up at the public dock when visiting.
The Commodore mentioned that for the time being Scotty Huggins would be serving meals at the meetings until the Commodore could find a meals chairman.
He announced that the member cards were available and also mentioned that spouse cards were available. Also, pocket calendars will be available shortly.
Lastly, Commodore Krows introduced Past Commodore Lentgis who gave a brief synopsis on the club’s success at the SYC-QCYC Challenge Race.
VICE-COMMODORE: Vice Commodore Anhalt reported that Captain Jim Damery had been busy working around the club, repairing the barbecues, etc.
The Vice-Commodore mentioned that the shockwave from the Alaska earthquake left some incidental damage.
Lastly, the Vice-Commodore mentioned t hat there were still boats in noncompliance with proper power cords and that the club would be disconnecting them shortly after notification. Also there were still boats that did not have proper registration.
REAR COMMODORE: Rear Commodore McCroskey reported that the Fiskers have been doing a great job on the grounds and thanked them and the others on the crew.
He reported that he was corresponding with the city regarding the security issues at the club and invited a retired police officer to speak at the December 11th meeting.
The Rear Commodore also encouraged members to get out and invite guests to join the club.
TREASURER: Lewis Titland reminded members that they needed to get their moorage agreements in. He further mentioned that some members would be receiving notification of late fees and warned that members face expulsion if they fail to come current.
FLEET CAPTAIN: Bob Randolph reported that the cruise schedule is out and mentioned that he would be setting up the easels to announce the cruises. He reported that the first cruise would be January 3-5. Also, he announced the Super Bowl party at the club.
Lastly, he noted that he was looking at the Captain Whidbey Inn as a cruise destination and also if people were interested, Kingston Cove Yacht Club had extended an offer to watch the Apple Cup at their club.
SPECIAL PEOPLE’S CRUISE: Captain Barry Eberhardt reported that the cruise would be on December 8th. He reported that 18 boats are signed up and is looking for help to manage the docks as the boats come in.
CORRESPONDENCE: Acting Secretary Bill Packard announced that a card is being circulated for Art Hemenway, who passed away recently.
He read letter of withdrawal by the following Captains:
- Sjonges
- Stultz
- Rodolf
- Borgnes
- Lohnes
ACTION ON CORRESPONDENCE: By motion and voice vote, the membership voted to accept the withdrawals of these members.
The Acting Secretary read a request by Captain Ted Elder for use of the club on November 14, 2002. No conflict was noted.
The Secretary also read a letter of reciprocity from Day Island Yacht Club
APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP: secretary Packard read an application from Captain Jim Martinson. Captain Martinson is sponsored by Captains Elder and Allison. Captain Martinson was present and recognized.
REGATTA POWER: P/C Lentgis announced the First of the Season Race on January 11th.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Chaplain Klett led the membership in a service for Captain John Mahoney.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: None
RECEPTION: R/C McCroskey again recognized #11, Captain Wes Mauldin as the senior member in attendance. Forty members were present with six guests. Five past commodores were present and recognized. Captain Bob Renfrow was the junior member in attendance.
QUARTER POT: Captain Ray Cruickshank pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captains David Krows and Richard McGrew won Friday lunches. Captain Gordon Roome’s name was drawn for the quarter pot, but was not present to win.
