CALL TO ORDER:  Commodore Yates called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1940 hours.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:  Rear-Commodore Roberts led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION:  Rear-Commodore Roberts recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance.

READING OF THE MINUTES:  Secretary Wood read the minutes of the previous meeting and they were approved as read.

CORRESPONDENCE:  The Secretary read letters of resignation from Captains Mick Olsen and Arvid Lingass, and letters of withdrawal from Captains Dohn Gary DeLarm and Michelle Bressler.  Both letters of withdrawal were approved by the members.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP: Applications from Captains Brian Barton and Christie Foote were read;  Captain Barton was present and recognized.

SPECIAL PEOPLE’S CRUISE:  Captain Andy Grisham introduced Christy Springer from SeaFair, who summarized key aspects of the December 3 event, scheduled from 3:30-5:30 PM.  The Cruise needs 35 boats.

EIGHT BELL CEREMONY:  Chaplain Ken Klett presided over an eight bell ceremony for Captain Rene St. Onge, who joined the Club in 1957.

COMMODORE:  Commodore Yates reported that a $1,000 donation to the Memorial Fund, in honor of Captain Ed Erickson, was made by his family.  He reminded members to update their information on the web site, as it will be the basis for information to be printed in the Annual.

The Commodore noted upcoming events – the Halloween Cruise to the Bainbridge Outstation, and the November 10 Friday Night Social / Tarette’s Country Store event.

REAR-COMMODORE:  Rear Commodore Roberts reported on a potential conflict with parking relative to a wedding scheduled in the clubhouse, and noted that plans are being formulated for next summer’s sailing camp.

TREASURER:  Treasurer John Rogers reported that he expects to close out last year’s budget soon, and that $50K of bonds will be redeemed.  Working with the Planning and Finance Committee, the ’07 budget is being prepared. 

He noted the Club’s significant tax liabilities, which comprise 17% of the Club’s income - $35K to the DNR and $11K of property taxes for Bainbridge, along with $61K of property taxes for the main station in Seattle.  The Secretary implored the Treasurer to promptly pay all the Bainbridge bills first.

FLEET CAPTAIN:  Fleet Captain George Austin reminded attendees of the Halloween cruise to Bainbridge, for which over 20 boats are expected.  The next event will be the Kingston Apple Cup cruise – call the marina directly for slip reservations.

BOARD:  Chairman and P/C Jeff Ewell reported that the budget is item number 1 for the Board, and noted that fixed expenses and dedicated accounts are over 90% of the annual cash outflow.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

REGATTA POWER:  Captain Doug Lindal reported results of Port Orchard’s Fall Roundup and the Flag Officer’s Race.  The First of the Season Race is scheduled for January 14.  Big winners of late were P/C Dick Timmerman, the Lindals, and P/C Ewell.

CLUB MANAGER:  Captain Jess Hill reported that 11 people have signed up for bar training – send an e-mail to him if you would like to participate.  Box wine will be available for a $1 ticket in the future, and Willie will be open on Sundays during football season from 9 AM – 3 PM.

OTHER REPORTS:

Captain Tom Youngs reported that another group purchase of diesel fuel is being scheduled at Ballard Oil within the next week or two.

Moorage – Captain Bruce Ramon reported that 5 assignments have been made at the main station this month, and that he expects the web site to soon have the current moorage information on it for all to view.

Web Site – Captain Kyle Bixby noted that the forums are now up and running on the web site, and encouraged their use.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:  Captain Ray Huggins reported on two Clubs – Royal Hamilton Yacht Club in Ontario, and Queen City Yacht Club in Toronto – which were particularly helpful during his visits, and requested that letters of thanks be written to both.  Eileen Huggins offered to prepare “welcome packages” for visitors to our reciprocal dock.

RECEPTION: R/C Roberts again recognized Captain Ray Meyers as the senior member in attendance and Captain Larry Richards as the junior member in attendance.  57 members were present with several guests.  Six past commodores were present and recognized.   

QUARTER POT: Captain Joanne Martenson pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot.  Captain Harris Johnson and Secretary John Rogers won Friday lunches. Captain Dick Kasperson won the quarter pot and donated it to the Club.
