CALL TO ORDER: Commodore Grimm called the meeting to order in the Clubhouse at 1935 hours.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Vice Commodore Yates led the general membership in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
SENIOR MEMBER RECOGNITION: Rear-Commodore McGillin recognized Board Chairman Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance.
SPECIAL PROGRAM: By fiat, Commodore Grimm dispensed with the normal order of the meeting, to allow ample time for the Change of Watch.
INITIATION: Captain Ed Jennerich presided over the initiation of four new members: Captains Dave Christensen, Linda Roehl, Tammie Hogan, and Glen Bowser.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Outgoing Treasurer Steve Farber reported that, to his amazement, the Club is within budget for the year to date. He thanked those who have helped him the past three years, and particularly Assistant Treasurer Michelle Bressler and Treasurer-elect John Rogers.
COMMODORE’S PRESENTATIONS: Commodore Grimm presented the Commodore’s Trophy to four individuals: Captains Steve Farber, Jerry Zuvich, Dick Geving, and P/C Daryl Anhalt. He presented the Member of the Year award to Captain Jim Damery, and thanked all the members for making his year a great one.
CHANGE OF WATCH: P/C Paul McTaggart presided over the Change of Watch ceremony, with P/C Ron Rolstad as marshall. P/C Russ Oberg decommissioned the 91st Bridge, and P/C Carl Weiss commissioned the 92nd Bridge. Installed were Captain Nick Castrow and ex-Commodore Grimm on the Board of Trustees, Captain John Rogers as Treasurer, Captain Eric Wood as Secretary, Captain Dale Roberts as Rear Commodore, ex-Rear Commodore Bill McGillin as Vice Commodore, and ex-Vice Commodore Bob Yates as Commodore
P/C Al Smith presented Commodore Yates with his gavel, and ex-Commodore Grimm was presented with a P/C burgee. Commodore Yates and the Bridge officers presented ex-Commodore Grimm with his silver stars, and the ex-Commodore gave his wife Karin the diamond earrings he promised her three years ago in recognition of her support. Crystal Yates also presented flowers to Karin.
COMMODORE: Commodore Yates thanked P/C McCroskey and ex-Commodore Grimm for their help, and briefly discussed his goals for the upcoming year. He stated that Captain Bruce Ramon would be heading the Moorage Committee, and thanked Kathy Fish for her help in coordinating and preparing the ’06-’07 calendar of activities.
The Commodore noted several upcoming events – the first Halloween Cruise to Bainbridge Island, two Friday night socials, and the Flag Officer’s Race.
REGATTA POWER: P/C Lynn Montgomery presented hardware from recent races – the Seattle Yacht Club’s Port Madison Race and the Stimson Race. Both the Club and P/C Dick Timmerman were big winners. The next race is October 14 at Port Orchard.
FISHING DERBY: P/C Montgomery reported results of the recent derby at Bainbridge Island, which had 25 fishermen but only one winner – Captain Jim Damery.
WEBSITE: Captain Kyle Bixby updated members on improvements to the web site, and encouraged all to use the site.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
RECEPTION: R/C Dale Roberts recognized Board Chairman Gary Stone as the senior member in attendance; Captain Glen Bowser was the junior member in attendance. 69 members were present along with several spouses and guests. 11Past Commodores and one ex-Commodore were present and recognized.
QUARTER POT: Crystal Yates pulled for Friday lunches and quarter pot. Captain Chuck Cooper and P/C Rich McCroskey won Friday lunches, and Captain Greg Scott won the quarter pot.
